Undervisning som et Redskab i Global Platform Mt. Kenyas arbejde

Tobias Aske Kristensen

Student thesis: Termpaper

This project is set out to find out how education is used in development work at Global Platform Mt. Kenya. Armed with Paulo Freire’s Pedagogy of the Oppressed (1970/2000), The project seeks to through analytical auto etnography, observe wether or not the education is a liberating one, and how that plays in to the development work carried out by ActionAid Denmark in Kenya. The conclusion to the project is, that while a lot of Freire’s methods of teaching are used, there’s missing an element of actual liberating education, as the participants, are not oppressed. However the education plays into a larger strategy of creating cultural encounters across borders, and as such the education plays a role in preparing youth for this meeting.
