This report deals with the articulation of mindfulness as a health promotion means for dealing with work-life stress and the welfare of employees. It includes an account of Norman Fairclough’s approach to critical discourse analysis, followed by a critical discourse analysis of an interview with a consultant on mindfulness. Throughout the report, and especially in the analysis of social practice, we focus on potential issues in the articulation of mindfulness. These potential issues are discussed in relation to work-life and societal tendencies of individualisation, responsibility towards the employee and workplace self-development strategies.
