Abstract

Abstract When a child is affected by sudden disease, that keeps it away from school for an extended period of time, the child is at risk of being excluded both educationally and socially. Therefore the Municipality of Roskilde has chosen to establish a committee of leading professionals, with various approaches to the issue. Due to the municipality’s intention of finding a solution based on the situation of the citizen, they have put up a bulletin, asking for aid in the empirical part. It is this part that will be handled through this paper. The municipality has provided a number of respondents, which will form the basis of the report. Their statements will be analyzed by means of various theories. Each theory should help to clarify the hardships that children, parents and teachers face, both corporally and mentally. The final part of the analysis will deal with the innovation and will be used to develop possible solutions.
