Abstract

Project title: Trade liberalization and governance Abstract: The project report examines the influence of national and global governance on the outcome of Mexico’s trade liberalizations. Mexico is an interesting case because of the fact that trade liberalizations in Mexico have been implemented in agreement with the IMF’s and the World Bank’s guidelines and instructions. Adam Smith’s theory and David Ricardo’s theory on trade will be examined along with Heckscher-Ohlin’s factor-proportions model. These theories will be used in an analysis of Mexico’s trade liberalizations. Furthermore Herbert H. Werlin’s theory on governance will be examined and used in an analysis of the quality of governance in Mexico. Global governance will be examined and analysed by means of kvasi theories with will be included ad hoc.
