Student thesis: Termpaper

The purpose of this project is to study Frigga Haugs psychological/sociological method Memory Work. This method emerged in the beginning of the 1980ies and was developed by Frigga Haug and others in an attempt to inscibe feminism into marxism. Haug is grounded in critical psychology and the Womans Movement and Memory Work is in this project primarely related to these. Memory Work is a feministic method that centeres the everyday experience of the subject. In concrete, Memory Work happens by a textual deconstruction of womens memories about a certain subject. Furthermore, Memory Work relies on the theoretical assumption that our personality is something that we construct ourselves. In many ways Memory Work reflects both critical psychology and the historical context, because it makes the subject centre of scientific research, critiques the existing psychological research methods and relies on a feministic foundation, which historically had a lot of support in the 1970ies.
