This project deals with the two Danish newspapers, Politiken and Information's coverage of the Danish political party Alternativet (In English: The Alternative) for a limited period of the Danish parliamentary election campaign in 2015 (from the 27th of May to the 3rd of June). The project examines how Alternativet was framed in articles in the two newspapers in the specified period and discusses what effects this framing may have had on the readers and on the election results. A frame analysis of the articles is conducted via text analysis and frame analytical methods to ex-amine how Alternativet was framed in the articles. The project argues that the articles contain three main frames, which are defined as follows: 1. Alternativet is unfit for a post in the Danish Parliament 2. Alternativet is fit for a post in the Danish Parliament 3. Alternativet’s candidates are humble and humorous The number of articles containing the above mentioned frames are counted and systemized, in rela-tion to date and newspaper. On this basis, the project summarizes that frame 2 (Alternativet is fit for a post in the Danish Parliament) occurs more often than frame 1(Alternativet is unfit for a post in the Danish Parliament). It is also summarized that there is a majority of so-called “Favourable cov-erage” of the party in the two papers. This summary of the analysis is then compared with opinion polls from the same period. From this comparison, it appears that there, to some extend, is an overall harmony between the frequency of what the project defines as “Favourable coverage” of Alternativet and an increase in voter support in the polls. However, the project cannot conclude a direct causal relationship between the framing and the opinion polls. The project then discusses possible hypothetical effects of the above described possible framing in the two newspapers' coverage of Alternativet during the mentioned period. In this discussion fram-ing theory is included.
