A better life? This study examines in which extent the initiatives, about living and working outside the asylum centers, in the agreement ”Øget fokus på hjemsendelse – nye muligheder for asylansøgere”, asylum seekers the opportunity to get a better life while they are in Denmark. This is relevant as asylum seekers circumstances have been criticized and the agreement is an opportunity to make these circumstances better and give them a better life. For this purpose we will use Axel Honneth’s recognition theory to find out in which extent the asylum seekers achieve increased recognition after the agreement has been implemented. Moreover, we will by means of experts discuss in which extent asylum seekers want to live outside the asylum centers, are able to get a job and further, if they want to take part in their casework and go back home voluntary, as this is conditions to achieve increased recognition. In conclusion the agreement will give the asylum seekers the opportunity to get a better life. However, it will be an even better life if they get asylum.
