We want to assess the current situation of poverty relating to children in Denmark and how it can relate to a welfare society, like the Danish. From a critical perspective will we asset the measures taken and the measures available for the betterment of children’s quality of life. Our usage of theory’s like empowerment and acclaimed theorists such as Habermas and Bourdieu, will illuminate the actor-structure duality and how it can relate to initiatives taken against poverty. By using calculative methods, designed for the assessment of poverty, we aim for a clear assessment of how many poor children there are currently living in prolonged poverty and their chances for breaking with their negative social inheritance.
