This project seeks to understand how exam and exam-/test anxiety affects students' motivations and ways of learning. The project is based on Jean Lave and Etienne Wenger's situated learning theory. Interviews with two Danish college students were conducted and used in the analysis. The topics of the analysis are: the students learning-approaches, their orientation and motivational factors. The report concludes that the performanceculture of society, creates a performancepressure that makes students extrinsic motivated, because they focus on ‘learning to express knowledge’ rather than acquire knowledge itself. That is a problem, because it weakens the quality of the students' thinking and their interests.
