Abstract

This project is based on the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine, a conflict of such a complexity, that it’s hard to see and implement a solution, both in the short as well as in the long term. We therefore saw it fit, to begin the project with examining the historical facts and events from 1882 to present day, and by doing so getting a deepened understanding of the origin and development of the conflict. We decided to put the central focus of the project on the West Bank barrier which serves as a good example of the division between the israelis and palestinians and their land and ways of living. In order to understand the conflict from both sides, we chose two documentaries, that represent two opposing opinions of the conflict. These two documentaries constitute our main empirical evidence. This empirical evidence was the subject of an intuitive and discourse analysis, that had as its objective to disclose the discourses and opinions of the definite truth about the conflict. By comparing and discussing the discourses and opinions from the analytical part of project, we were able to paint a picture of the groups as having a shared historical past and future destiny.
