Abstract
This study aims at scrutinising how the notion of the poetics of the sublime in prosemight travel in the event of translation. It is a little studied topic, presumably due tothe elusiveness of the sublime. Here I nevertheless try to capture this concept by analysingLonginus’ treatiseOn the Sublime with a focus on elevated writing. I apply these traits tothe three most recent Danish translations of Charlotte Brontë’s novelJane Eyreas it is anexemplary novel of sublime passion in both content and style.
