The main cause of the problems in cities is inequality: Interview, Enrique Peñalosa

We need to completely rethink the way we design our cities, is the message from the former mayor of Bogotá. Unfortunately we have no adequate models for doing so, and our inability to see the massive inequality and irrationality right before our noses makes us unable to even imagine how this can be achieved. Moreover, as politicians today are more interested in being popular than in being thought leaders and guiding change, we need to find new creative ways forward. We talked to Peñalosa on Skype, over two days while he was on holiday in Cartagena.
