Regenerative Leadership - A social systems theoretical approach

Research output: Book/ReportBookResearchpeer-review

Abstract

This book provides a social systems theoretical approach (based on the German sociologist Niklas Luhmann (1927-1998)) to how leadership are being challenged and transformed. The book offers a new approach for researchers looking to examine leadership in the broad transformation that both organizations, management, and the societal subsystems are amid due to the unsustainable relations. The book also offers an afterword discussing how to bridge management science and practice.

The growing Luhmannian community interested in social systems theory beyond the Modernity, is concerned about the systemic pathologies caused by systems’ “inward orientation” causing pandemics, fiscal crises, environmental issues and global warming, social injustice etc. However, these pathologies may also stir up social energies for a transition towards a "next era", analyzed, illustrated, and conceptualized in this book.
