Abstract
Most psychological research concerning rape has been done within the positivist tradition and focuses on the diagnosis of post-traumatic stress syndrome. Methodological reflections and a research project connected to Center for Victims of Sexual Assault indicate that this approach excludes the personal meanings sexual assault has for the women involved. The article discusses in which ways conversations in psychotherapy as a point of departure for research in the field may contribute to include womens own voices and perspectives.
