Performing landscapes – speculating on sustainable urbanism

Abstract

Landscapes are carriers of history, traces of forgotten pasts. Often, we are eager to live in the present to enjoy the here and now of landscapes while forgetting what they carry with them - traces that might inform possible futures. Through two examples, the article illustrates how walking and moving with post-industrial urban landscapes gives embodied knowledge for thinking about a closer relationship to the environment and potentially a more sustainable urban future.
