abstract = "This artcle considders the political aims for different leave schemes and reviews studies af these schemes. The use of parental leave is sensitive to the financial loss involved in taking leave: a decrease in the benefit payments has had a significant influence on take-up, while, in general, families'' loss of income is less if leave is taken up by the mothers. Only few fathers participate in parental leave.",
