Tingbjerg just outside of central Copenhagen represents like few other residential areas the expectations to and disappointment over modern architecture and urban plannings contributions to the welfare society. It is an almost unbearable paradox, that Tingbjerg of all places – where from the beginning nothing was left to coincidence, today is on the Government's official 'ghetto list'. As a part of a theme on Tingbjerg, this article discusses the development of the area in a historical and societal context in the light of the ongoing transformations of the area.
