The governance of care consists of both things said and not said. Whereas care has increasingly entered the political agenda, there is a simultaneous process of silencing parts of care in political discourses both nationally and within the EU. This constitutes a paradox – and a condition of possibility. Through bricolage various new elements in the governance of care such as New Public Management and Europeanization are discussed inspired by theoretical perspectives such as gendered governance, feminist theorizing on care and Foucault.
