Abstract

This internet article discusses the gatekeeper politics of the late Idriss Deby, who passed away in April 2021. It draws on the analysis of a recent co-written academic article about Chad's politics of gatekeeping and regime security (Henningsen and Gissel, 2020). While the research article explains Chad's non-cooperation with the International Criminal Court, the internet article focuses on Chad's gatekeeper state and what that means for the Chadian regime, now lead by Mahamat Deby.
