Abstract

In this article, we wish to describe and share our approach to a recent project facilitating slow looking with art and aesthetic objects for young psychiatric service users with severe mental illness. The project is based on a collaboration between the Frederiksberg Museums, a group of four museums of art and cultural history near Copenhagen, and the Centre for Arts and Mental Health, a multi-arts centre at Amager Psychiatric Hospital in Copenhagen, Denmark. To our knowledge, the project is the first of its kind in Denmark and a rare example of collaboration between museums and psychiatric hospitals.
