Abstract
This paper argues for the continued need to reconnect issues of postcoloniality to the colonial. In particular with the contemporary discourse in the Nordic countries on migrancy there is a tendency to see it as a phenomenon unfolding in a largely ahistorical space as a process of coming to terms with a new reality of multicultural society, as if there is no multicultural historical precedence in the Nordic countries, internally as well as externally through the Nordic countries participation in the project of colonialism.
