Abstract
Today, parents of ethnic minority youth - especially those who are Muslim - are generally portrayed as the adversaries of the youth in their processes of nuptial couple formation. Instead interviews with this youth document a widespread desire of having the parents as co-operators in that process, whereby they distance themselves to a thoroughly individualised way of forming couples.
