Abstract

As a Nordic welfare state, Denmark’s immigration and integration policy was traditionally built on liberal humanitarian principles. Denmark is today considered a hardliner when it comes to immigration policy. Since 2015, Danish immigration and integration policy has been tightened more than 85 times, and the country is today ranked number 27 out of 38 by the Migrant Integration Policy Index.
