Abstract

In connection with educational reform in Denmark in 2002 the Russian language acquired a “status” of a third world language. Preservation of the Russian language for Russian-speaks bilingual children today is solely in the hands of the Russian speaking community.
The sphere of use of Russian in Denmark is fairly restricted. There is no periodic press or other mass media, neither bilingual daycare centers nor schools with. There is an interesting experience of utilization of Russian in the teaching of Danish.
Although officially the Russian language lost its position in Denmark, interest in the Russian culture survives among the Danish elite. Entrepreneurs who would like to work on the Russian market are also expressing interest in the Russian language.
