Description

This project sets out to document the transcultural communication processes occurring during the activities of the West African student organisation "Mouvement des sans Voix" in Burkina Faso. The students Work in a context of extensive plurilinguism (about 60 different languages are spoken in Burkina Faso) and in a country marked by poverty, a massive presence of Development institutions and agents and remarkable traditions of intellectual endeavour and debates - often found in other discursive forms than those conceived through "Western"epistemological tools. The aim of the project is:
1) Document how the students and the people they Work with deal with language differences as well as large difference in social and economic conditions
2) Investigate to what extent the best practice of the students' communication strategies may provide useful tools for a) the practice of Development agents.
