Project Details
Description
The purpose of this project is to process central issues like: Is the Arab other ‘missing’ in Israeli discourses of redemption? How is Jewish identity, social cohesion and processing of the past connected to central concepts in prevailing discourses? How has Israeli discourses developed and changed since its establishment?
This project is an interdisciplinary consolidation between Cultural History and Discourse Studies, and my empirical body is temporally situated after World War II. However, I am also preoccupied with the interconnections and experiences from central events in Jewish History. This field of tension can be described as particularly marked by Diasporic experiences, phases and shifts within Zionist ideology, the geopolitical history of Palestine, antisemitism and its culmination during the Holocaust.
