RUC’s Research Communication Prize

Prize: Prizes, scholarships, distinctions

Description

Lone Simonsen has been awarded RUC’s Research Communication Prize. The prize is given to a researcher or a group of researchers who have made a particularly outstanding communication effort over the past year.

Regarding the justification for this year’s award going to Viggo Andreasen and Lone Simonsen, the prize committee states:

“In addition to both Lone Simonsen and Viggo Andreasen being truly skilled at communicating in an accessible way and with a clear understanding of their audience’s perspective and everyday life, it is impressive that they have managed to combine this with both basic research and advisory work for authorities. It is very rare to encounter researchers who are capable of doing all three at such a high level.
Their public communication is characterized by a very high degree of credibility, precisely because they master the ability to put themselves in the audience’s place and demonstrate that they know what they are talking about, while also showing that they have the public’s best interests at heart and understand how we feel as a population. In other words, it is a textbook example of truly exceptional handling of ethos.”
