Personal profile

Research

My main research interest concerns different aspects of business-society relations in global South. I have studied Corporate Social Responsibility by multinational corporations that operate in Afghanistan. This study has led to contributions to the theoretical debates on development-oriented CSR, business legitimacy, business ethics, governance in Areas of Limited Statehood and Critical Management Studies.

I have also studied business strategies of local firms in the Kenyan floriculture industry. This study integrates insights from the Global Value Chain and technological capabilities literatures.

I have applied qualitative mixed methods in my research projects including case studies, interviews, field studies and document analysis.

Teaching

I teach and supervise undergraduate and graduate students in several courses on CSR, business legitimacy, sustainability, business strategy and social entrepreneurship.
