Personal profile

Research

My research examines the impact of digitalization, datafication, and artificial intelligence on the cultural and creative industries. Positioned at the intersection of media and communication studies and sociological research on cultural production, I explore how digital media, AI, and platforms reshape social roles, communication practices, organizational structures, and business models – particularly in the music industry.

I use qualitative (and sometimes quantitative) digital methods to analyze these transformations, integrating theoretical perspectives with practice-oriented research. My work increasingly focuses on AI and data-driven processes in creative work, as well as the broader influence of algorithmic systems on cultural policy and governance. This research critically engages with how emerging technologies redefine creative labor, cultural decision-making.

I co-lead of the research group Artificial Intelligence and Datafied Communication (AIDa), which investigates the societal and communicative dimensions of AI and datafication. I am also a member of the Centre for Digital Citizenship.

A core aspect of my work is bridging academic research with industry practice. Through collaborations with cultural organizations and institutions – especially in the music industry – I seek to foster critical and applied understandings of digital transformations in cultural production. My research ultimately aims to illuminate how technological change reshapes culture, creativity, and policy frameworks in the digital age.
