Personal profile

Research

I am a political scientist working on business-politics relations, welfare states, industrial relations, and corporate taxation.

My current research focuses on three topics: (a) the transnational regulation of corporate tax avoidance; (b) the abolition of inheritance taxes in some countries (with Michael B. Klitgaard); and (c) state support for collective bargaining (with Dennie Oude Nijhuis and Max Kiecker).

My earlier work investigated the role of employer interests in welfare state politics and in industrial relations and focused, in particular, on Germany and Austria.

I work primarily with qualitative data and methods, notably comparative case studies and methods of comparative-historical analysis.

Teaching

At Roskilde University, I teach in the MA International Politics and Governance, and in the BA International Bachelor in the Social Sciences.

Areas I teach include, inter alia, comparative public policy analysis, comparative political economy, business-politics relations, historical sociology, economic sociology, and European Union politics.

Management and Cooperation

I co-chair the research network Business in Politics and Society at the Council for European Studies (together with Daniel Kinderman and Dennie Oude Nijhuis). Moreover, I am a member of the boards of the Natonal Network for Welfare Studies (VELNET) and of the Danish Chapter of the Marie Curie Alumni Association.
