Personal profile

Research

My primary research interests are social and health inequalities explored through the perspectives of recipients.

For my PhD study ‘Reconceptualizing ethnic minority patients in healthcare. From theory to practice’, I will explore ethnicized minority patient’s encounters with the Danish healthcare system through an ethnographic approach. I am interested in intersectional connections between categories of class, race, religion, culture and ethnicity. Particularly in relation to reciprocal levels of the Scandinavian Welfare states, healthcare systems and agency of patients. The PhD study is a collaboration between Department of People and Technology at Roskilde University and Orthopedic Department at Hvidovre Hospital. It runs from 2021-2024.

My background is in nursing and educational anthropology. Previous projects include fieldwork among Nigerian Women working the streets of Copenhagen and using Reden International’s drop-in center in Vesterbro as well as a hospital ethnography at a COVID19-ward.
