RESEARCH:
I am an interdisciplinary feminist scholar and PhD fellow in the Social Science Department. My current research works to capture trans and non-binary people's experiences of well-being and care in the Danish socio-political and socio-medical contexts. This project works on macro-, meso-, and micro- levels to understand how cis-normative and hetero-normative assumptions have informed legal and medical policy relating to trans-specific health and well-being, and how these assumptions have been translated down through healthcare professionals, and how trans and non-binary people experience and navigate these systems. Rooted in queer and transfeminist theory, the project takes up participatory action research, feminist discourse analysis, collective memory work as methods used to critically explore within and across levels.
In working with issues related to the discipline of trans, non-binary and queer expression, I work to engage myself and my work within critical discussions and evaluations raised by trans and queer activists. As such, I consider my research as part of a larger activist network and discussions, which aims to bring about positive social change for marginalized communities.
