Research

My research focus is on cultural heritage, media and museums in relation to historical and contemporary cultural encounters following from colonialism and migration. I am particularly interested in, how social media and digitized cultural heritage (i.e., photos) are used in the memory work of both individuals and groups. Furthermore, I am interested in, how migration history, colonial history and postcolonial memory practices are articulated in crossmedial communication (for instance across tv-documentaries, websites and social media). In recent years my research has also included museums' off-line exhibitions and co-creation projects, and I have been examining representations of migration and religious diversity in cultural historical museums.
