Personal profile

Research

I am an anthropologist, Ph.D., with a particular interest in health, aging, and care.

Currently, I am involved in the research project COMPANION (funded by the Agria Forskningsfond). Using ethnographic methods, the project investigates human/dog intimacies in later life. It studies the intimate relationships between older adults and their companion dogs as they unfold over time. In addition, it focuses on how living alone with a dog in later life affects the wellbeing and the social lives of the dog owners.

I have many years of experience with anthropological fieldwork and the use of ethnographic methods in the field of elderly care and healthcare, having conducted fieldwork in home care, nursing homes, and hospitals.

My teaching experience is primarily in applied anthropology, medical anthropology, and ethnographic methods.
