Research

I am a PhD student as part of the Roskilde School of Governance, researching the green transition of vocational education and training (VET). My primary interest lies in understanding how political change – such as the green transition – can be advanced within collaborative and polycentric governance systems characterized by high levels of complexity, uncertainty, and diverse interests.

Vocational education is governed through a collaborative arrangement between the state and social partners – a governance system designed to ensure the continuous and flexible adaptation of the 101 specialized programs to meet the evolving needs of both the state and the labor market. The direct involvement of private actors in governance is intended to integrate knowledge and policy interests into the development of these programs, thereby supporting an economically and socially sustainable system. But how does this system function in promoting green, environmental sustainability – for example, by developing green skills? How can the system support decision makers in continuously understanding and anticipating the needs of the green economy, translating these into concrete green skill objectives, making resource-intensive – and sometimes controversial – structural changes to the programs, and ensuring that the system’s many units and stakeholders work toward a common direction? These are the very questions I focus on: investigating the VET system’s capacity for systemic change and identifying the factors that facilitate (or hinder) productive collaborations and the development of programs that support the green transition.

In my methodological approach, I often combine qualitative and quantitative methods – including qualitative interviews, quantitative document analyses, and surveys.

Teaching

I teach the course Social Science Analysis Strategy with a focus on Application-oriented methods. Additionally, I am associated with the basic course in Quantitative Methods.

Regarding project group supervision, I have a particular research interest in educational policy and governance, as well as mixed methods and survey methodological approaches.
