Research

I am a professor of Cultural Encounters and co-head of the research group Interkult (together with Linda Lapina). I am also a member of the cross-departmental research group on migration at Roskilde University.

My research interests include works on migration to Denmark (and Scandinavia), both past and present; the impact of migration on Danish cities and neighborhoods; transnational mobilities, ghettorization, and formulations of Islam in both Europe and North America.

Based on my research I have been engaged in and led both Danish and Scandinavian research projects, Currently, I am engaged in the Horizon 2020 supported network MirNet (https://mirnet.eu/): MirNet focuses on both migration and integration research in Eastern and Western Europe (project period 2019-2022).

I also supervise projects based on qualitative research methods. I teach BA courses in global migration, globalization and transnationalism.
