Research

I am PI of the research proejct The Digital Society and Trust, DIS-TRUST. Together with Mads Vestergaard, Micol Mieli and Freja Schiermer Larsen I examine how relations of trust are transformed in the digitally enhanced social life worlds of our current times. We confront the conceptual work of philosophy with concrete case studies of trust mediate by social media, platforms and algorithms.

My privious research falls in three broad categories: (1) systematic social philosophy and philosophical anthropology. WIthin this field I have worked intesively with phenomena such as trust, hope and social coherence;(2) The history of European philosophy in the 18.th, 19.th and 20.th Century. Here I have focused especially on questions within the broad spectrum of philosophy of culture. More specifically I have scrutinised intellectual debate culture, humanism and democracy; (3) philosophical aesthetics in which I am especially interested in the aesthetic experience.
