Personal profile

I am no longer employed at Roskide University and am now assistant professor at Aalborg University, Department of Sociology and Social Work.

At Roskilde University I have since 2011 taught and supervised undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students at:

MA in Social Entrepreneurship and Management (English)

Sociale Interventionsstudier (Danish MA)

Pædagogik og Uddannelsesstudier (Danish MA)

Master i Socialt Entreprenørskab og Management (Danish executive Master)

BA in Social Science (Danish and English)

BA in Humanities (Danish)

Additionally, I have been a part-time lecturer at the Danish MA of Social Work at Aalborg University.

Based on fieldwork in a municipality in the south of Denmark, the themes of my PhD project were welfare solutions, civil society, cultural encounters, identities, social innovation and ex- and inclusion of vulnerable citizens.

Previously, I have worked with social and national cohesion, education, ethnicity, nation and social identity in the global South. When I wrote my MA thesis in Educational Anthropology I did fieldwork in Malaysia among university students from the country's three major ethnic groups (Malay, Chinese and Indian). Here I studied aspirations and identifications associated with university education and identifications.

For me university is about clarifying and hopefully changing existing unsound mechanisms and an important part in this is to legitimise why a specific project is necessary and relevant.

I wish for students to develop intellectual abilities and individual and creative talents. My starting point is that own views and experiences are legitimate and often necessary to find sustainable solutions.
