Personal profile
Research
I am an associate professor in the field of health and human rights. My research lies at the intersection between health, human rights and gender issues. I am Principal Investigator of the MaMas project "Mapping and Conceptualizing a Legal Framework for Maternal Rights during Pregnancy, Birth, and Postpartum" funded by a €1.5 million, 5-year Starting Grant from the European Research Council (ERC). The project develops the first legal framework of maternal rights during the transition of motherhood.
I am also co-PI of the project "Conceptualizing a Human Right to Menstrual Health - Breaking Societal Taboos and Promoting Female Health", funded by Danmarks Frie Forskningsfond. The project fills a critical gap in women’s right to health by investigating how human rights can be leveraged to support menstrual health.
Previously, I conducted research in health and human rights in the context of climate change and indigenous rights; as well as on the human rights implications of health promotion in the workplace. My PhD analyzed the intersection between international public health and human rights law for the prevention of obesity.
