Personal profile

Research

I work with time and the roles of time in historical (mainly in the second half of 20th century) and current societies. Currently I work with temporal aspects of the environment when it arose as a societal problem in the second half of the 20th century – primarily with critical voices in the Danish public in the 1960-70s. Previously, I’ve studied roles of time through the lens of collective and individual memories, oral history, history culture, museum communication, reenactment, and other public history settings regarding historical topics like industrial history, labor history, WW2, the Women’s Liberation Movement and historical handicraft.

Teaching

I often teach topics related to memory conflicts, historical continuity and change, theory and methods in cultural history/cultural studies, historical consciousness, history communication, historical museums, gender, body, sexuality and human-nature relations.

Much of my teaching takes place in an international environment. Mainly in Roskilde University's program Global Humanities but I have also taken part in developing a transnational history online course and published teaching material in relation to this with partners from educational institutions from all over the Baltic Sea Region.
