Personal profile

Research

My primary area of interest is research into health and care work for the elderly, cultural understandings of ageing, and the educations aiming at jobs in the elderly care sector. For several years, I have focused on the sosu educations in particular and continuing / further education for the professional groups working in elderly care. I have carried out evaluations of development projects in the field. The demographic changes with a larger share of older people and multi-morbidity in the population - and changes in the welfare state and health care system that can be seen in connection with this - form the background of my research. Recently, I have been preoccupied with the use of digital technology in healthcare, the visions behind its use, and what it can mean for vulnerable seniors. Concepts of health literacy and digital health literacy are central here. With a humanistic background, I use qualitative ethnographic methods and discourse analysis. I draw on care theory, critical theory and psychosocial theory - all approaches that emphasize human subjectivity and relationality, and include social and other contextual conditions in its understandings.
