Centre for Research on Problem-oriented Project-based Learning

Organization profile

Organisation profile

Over the past 40+ years, Roskilde University has been committed to problem-oriented project-based learning (PPL). This connects the university with other Danish and international institutions of higher education that utilise various forms of problem-based pedagogies.

In 2018, Roskilde University decided to establish a new research centre: RUC-PPL. The centre is devoted to supporting and disseminating research on PPL as learning theory, situated practice, policy, educational history and philosophy, and how to measure its effects and learning outcomes.

RUC-PPL aspires to be a national and international partner in research-based development of PPL in both theory and practice. The centre hosts colloquia and conferences, accommodates visiting scholars, supports the development of project ideas, publications and other types of dissemination, as well as the development of applications for external funding related to research into PPL and pedagogical, didactic development projects.
