Description
The last ten years the traffic by cars is increased a lot and so are the societal costs caused by the increasing traffic - very large amounts are connected to handle externalities from traffic, e.g. infrastructure, noise, air pollution, accidents, climate effects and so on.
Therefore there are social economic benefits in reducing car traffic by shifting some of the private traffic to public transport. The project aims to describe the actual social and long term economical costs due to car traffic and to assess if free public transport could be an effective and usefull political measure to handle the problems given by the increasing traffic.
An interdisciplinary working group is appointed by the Board to give its assessments and recommandations.
Finally interviews with a group of citizens will create an overview among citizens about the wishes, worries and attitudes towards free public transport.
