Symposia for a Just Future - Creating Climate Justice Communities Through Culture

Activity: Talk or presentationLecture and oral contribution

Description

For a long time, climate justice movements have been calling attention to the fact that the consequences of climate change are not affecting people equally: marginalized peoples and vulnerable communities in the global south are experiencing the catastrophic effects such as failing harvests, heatwaves, floods, and famine the most. But overwhelmingly, climate breakdowns are caused by the industrial and commercial activities of the global north. Still, awareness of climate justice in the global north is limited, and minorities and marginalized people are less represented within European climate networks. There is a need to create larger awareness about climate injustice and systems of oppression, and our individual involvements that is embedded.
