Description
Reflecting- diffracting with urban watersThis walk grows out of a desire to explore our possibilities of relating to place, its waters and histories- even if we are just passing by for as (academic) visitors. It is informed by hydrofeminist thought, my work with movement, sensory and affective methodologies, and engagements with urban waters, especially my movement practice with Utterslev marsh in Copenhagen. The walk will offer a co-created space for feeling, relating and contemplation, connecting to each other and our watery urban environments.
What are our possibilities to sense and inhabit watery temporalities and ways of being-moving-reflecting- diffracting? What creative frictions might arise when we encounter the limits of the temporal dimensions accessible to our bodies and imaginations? How might collectively attuning to more-than-human temporalities nourish the possibilities of re-imagining our relationships with the worlds that nourish us- and expand our imaginations of planetary futures?
There will be five stages to the walk. During arrival, I will offer some verbal invitations for re-membering our relationships with water bodies we have met in our lives. For grounding and attunement, we will do a couple of simple physical exercises to land into our bodies and the group. Conscious walking will bring us to Spree. Moving-reflecting-diffracting will be the main part of the walk by the river, where there will be time for individual explorations. Floating digestion will be the final stage of the walk, giving some time to integrate the feelings and insights from the walk.
