Performative Urbanism and the re-emergence of the City

Activity: Talk or presentationLecture and oral contribution

Description

Performative Urbanism and the re-emergence of the city The lecture will focus on performative urbanism as an explorative field and practice in which urban environments re-emerge. It is argued, that we must re-orient and revalue our approach to the city from being about representations (for instance institutions, objects, built architecture) to being about processes of engagement, entanglements and co-creations. Informed by recent methods beyond proceeduralism (Springay & Truman 2017), performative mappings (Wolfrum & Brandiis 2015) and eco-feminist sympoesis and matters of care (Haraway 2016, Puig de la Bellacasa 2017), the presentation will draft ideas and speculate on how we though arts-based practices can make the city re-emerge beyond its representations and unjust ecologies.
