Mapping study of EU Member State legal pathways for labour migration and mobility

Activity: Other

Description

Interviewed by Amanda Bisong, of the European Centre for Development Policy Management (ECDPM) - an independent think tank specialised in Africa-EU relations.
ICMPD has commissioned ECDPM in the context of the Migration Partnership Facility (MPF) to conduct a Mapping study of EU Member State legal pathways for labour migration and mobility of EU member states. The study aims to feed into the MPF’s work to foster an enabling environment for partnership and knowledge management about labour migration. Amanda Bisong contacted me in the context of the case study for Denmark.
The project will be based on desk research of publicly available material and semi-structured interviews with informed stakeholders covering government and non-government institutions.
Given my research expertise in migration and labour mobility, Amanda set up a one hour online semi-structured interview with me. During the interview, we discussed my experiences in the use and effectiveness of labour migration pathways in responding to labour market needs in Denmark and where I see challenges and improvements. I also shared my reflections on the future scope for the development or adjustment of legal pathways for labour migrants in Denmark.
