Description
Freedom of Movements and Afro Empowerment Center Denmark invite you to a day of revolutionary introspection, reflection, discussion, networking, art and solidarity against structural discrimination and white supremacy. This historic event “Let’s Talk About Race” #1 will be hosted by two active organizations with an understanding of racism and the mechanisms that hinders people’s everyday life, liberty and pursuit of justice. Freedom of Movements and Afro Empowerment Center Denmark lock arms together this day in solidarity to create a platform where emphasis can be put on the underlying issues communities face: whether you are a refugee, resident, asylum seeker or citizen of this nation.
We understand that the power structure has created hierarchy, borders, thought processes, terms and policies which often define people and their life chances. The power structure backs this politically, economically and militarily regardless of the outcome- effects on people's lives. It often puts us everyday people at odds with each other and rarely pointing back to itself. It is in this knowledge that we invite concerned community members to convene, discuss issues, and find solutions which we can act upon!
This event will feature two panel discussions - artwork by artists whose work speaks truth to power - dinner with music -and an after party fundraising event where we acknowledge members of the communities work towards the struggle - while we raise funds to help fight legal cases rooted in afrophobia.
Let's get together, and commune with comrades from various local / regional organizations, as well as the public and start this new years of in solidarity.
