Humanitarian Actions in Mediterranean Digital Societies

Within the context of the European Commission's Jean Monnet Chair in Mediterranean Digital Societies and Law, which involves the DIGEP Unit withint the University of Torino as well as other universities in Spain, Greece, Malta, Cyprus, and Turkey, Michelle Pace is invited as a guest speaker in the forthcoming international conference to be held on 3 June 2022. The activities of the Chair started in March and in April the first international seminar on Protecting Refugees in the Mediterranean Area kick started a series of forthcoming events including those on The Role of AI in migration research. Michelle will be a panel spearker at a forthcoming online international conference on Humanitarian Actions in Mediterranean Digital Societies.

Among the speakers, we have already confirmed representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Swiss Federal Data Protection Authority, Privacy International, Human Rights Watch, and several colleagues from the academia (University of Groninger, VUB), including Prof. Joe Cannataci, former UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Privacy.

Within the context of this conference, it would be a great pleasure to invite you as a speaker in an open discussion session between experts on migration, refugees, and related policies, which aims to combine different perspectives and provide the audience with key insights into relevant social, technical and political issues. The other two experts are Gabrielsen Jumbert, Research Director at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (https://www.prio.org/people/6646) and Paolo Benanti, Professor at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, specialized in digital ethics.
