Formation of the N-Iodopyridinium Cation in an Alkane Environment: FTIR Investigation of the Pyridine-Iodine System in Stretched Polyethylene

Activity: Talk or presentationLecture and oral contribution

Description

Confined to the cavities of a low-density polyethylene (LDPE) host, pyridine (py) reacts with iodine (I2) to form N-iodopyridinium polyiodide (py-I+ + Ix). In stretched LDPE, this is the main product.
